[MUSIC PLAYING]
[TEXT: Edgardo, Principal Architect - Applications]
One of the things I love about New York is that everybody comes from a different place, you know. It's really great to see different ideas that come from their different backgrounds. We have people that came from theater, or from like the zoo, working the zoo. So they have different ideas from how to approach a problem. And that's really interesting to see.
[TEXT: Rachel, Manager - Project Manager]
The culture here is one of creativity. It is one of diversity. It is one of friendliness, you know, the collaboration of working together.
[TEXT: Brianne, Manager - Product Management]
It is absolutely the mix of just how the company is structured of this large corporation in a startup mentality. So it is fast paced. It is tons of high performers. Everyone here is intelligent. And we expect of everyone here to be an owner, even if your title is not product owner. And that means everybody's contributing.
[TEXT: Jack, Platform Engineer]
I found the culture at Lifion just strikes this perfect balance between being laid back and allowing you to work on what you want to work on at your own pace versus making sure that we keep on schedule and keeping you accountable towards putting together a very solid product, as not only yourself as an individual but really as a team as a whole.
[TEXT: Samantha, Senior Platform Engineer]
There is constant learning here. We're able to utilize different technologies that are able to solve the problems that we're trying to solve. And in doing that, we test out different things. And we're able to share what we've learned in order to help other teams determine, well, is the solution going to be solved by this technology or this technology. And we're able to, as we continuously learn, we can give that understanding to the other teams to be able to really pick the best option for what they're trying to solution on.

The opportunity that exists here is sort of limitless. Even when you come in and interview, we'll start picking up on things you say and go, you know, we have these other jobs here too. Would you be interested? We believe in retaining top talent and high performers.
[TEXT: Roopy, Sr. Director - HR]
If we see someone with a particular skill set, we will take risks and chances to give that person an opportunity to possibly work in a role that they're passionate about.
[TEXT: Rachel, Manager - Project Management]
Once you decide you want to work on something, people here encourage you to work on it. People want to work with you. And they see that if you have a passion, they want you to pursue your passion. So someone's career growth at ADP would be whatever they set their mind to.
[TEXT: Amira, Manager - Apps Development]
We also have demos here that we share knowledge, lunch and learns. We have what we call 5% time where different team members can pick up whatever technology or tool they want to use or try out.
[TEXT: Gargi, Senior Tech Project Manager]
For anyone who comes here, because we are an evolving product, HR domain in itself is a very people-centric approach. So connecting that technology with HR and making that a people-centric solution is very niche market right now. It's a learning opportunity for anyone.

Video: Career Paths Leading to ADP - You May Be Surprised
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[TEXT: Chris, Senior Product Manager]
My career journey here with ADP actually started as an intern. So I took a role in our business organization supporting specific projects, like even mergers and acquisitions. I went to school for HR and initially I got into college for computer engineering. But quickly found out that when I took that internship role and I took the implementation role post the internship, that that path wasn't the fit for me. And I knew from there that I definitely needed to get back into the technology space.
[TEXT: Samantha, Senior Platform Developer]
I started in college with my degree in psychology. And from there I went on to become a zookeeper, because my focus was on animal behavior and conservation, which is completely different than what I'm doing now. But it's all behavior. So I found that I was pretty interested in the tech space. And I knew that I was good at logic. So I went to boot camp at Hack Reactor. And there I learned how to code.
[TEXT: Michael, Lead Platform Engineer]
I was originally a biomedical engineer doing computational biology and decided, you know, academia wasn't really for me. So I started exploring tech a little bit. ADPs office in Chelsea was a great location. They seem to be working on a lot of really interesting stuff.
[TEXT: Katie, UX Designer]
I was an interactive designer or a UX designer for various industries starting with performing arts then onto aerospace, then cybersecurity and health care. And now I'm at ADP.
[TEXT: Jack, Software Engineer]
I graduated from a programming boot camp. And shortly after that, I was looking around for the right company for me. Lifion, coincidentally, was hosting a kind of a meet and greet for software engineers. So I went to that. I started speaking to the different employees there from software engineers to higher ups. And I just had really, really great conversations. There were a lot of people that were very passionate about what they did and also just very comfortable with where they were at. So it just felt like the right fit for me.

Video: Considering a career in Tech? Try a Bootcamp
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[TEXT: Samantha, Senior Platform Engineer]
I went to boot camp at Hack Reactor in 2016. And there I learned how to code, so everything from just JavaScript basics just to really get our feet wet, to learning how to work on Node, which is what we use here, and front end frameworks, databases, all the really core pieces of what you do day to day.
[TEXT: Stephanie, UX Designer]
I attended one at General Assembly. It's called User Experience Immersive. And for me, I didn't have the ability to quit my job to do this full time. So I definitely took on the part time study. And upon completing the course and getting my certification, I started looking for opportunities within ADP.
[TEXT: Jack, Software Engineer]
When I graduated from that programming boot camp, I was just looking for a solid job. And I just really appreciated all that ADP had to offer. It was a really fun product, for one thing. As I got to meet what would be my fellow software engineers, I found that I really had a really solid rapport with them and got along with them well. So between the culture, between the people, and the product itself, it really just seemed like the right fit for me.
[TEXT: Aimee, UX Designer]
After I'd completed my boot camp program, I was looking for a way to network that worked for me. So I don't really enjoy going to events and just sort of talking to random people. I thought the best way to be would be to be involved in organization and that people would get to know me and how I work by actually working with me.
And the way that I found out was Margot, the Director at ADP for User Experience Design. She was actually on the board, and I was as well, of an organization called User Experience Professional Association. And she happened to post about an opening under her department. And I reached out to her. And I told her, you should consider me if you haven't hired anyone yet. And she just kind of put me through the regular recruiting process by starting with the HR person contact.

[TEXT: Brianne, Manager - Product Management]
So how I found my way into a tech career, it was completely by accident. I went to college at NYU for classical theater. And all I ever wanted to do was perform Shakespeare. And so I actually just reached out to a friend one day, going, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm looking at my expenses for the month. I'm looking what I bring in each month. And I don't want to move back in with my parents. I can't do that. Do you have any advice? And she was working at an ad tech company. She gave me this opportunity of a really entry level position in sales operations.
[TEXT: Amira, Manager - Apps Development]
When growing up, even in high school, that's what I majored in. And I knew that I would go through college and study computer science. It was a no-brainer for me. And I don't know why, to be honest, because my environment was not very tech driven or anything. But I was just drawn to it.
[TEXT: Roopy, Sr. Director - HR]
I actually started out in law school. So, once I was in, I didn't quite feel like it was a good match. I had a mentor, actually, who was the head of HR for a security company. So we had quite a few conversations. I got to learn more about what HR involves and the different aspects. Never a boring day, that's for sure. And so hearing him talk about how many different components of HR there are and the fact that you can either be a generalist or you can be a specialist, there were endless opportunities within this space.
[TEXT: Rachel, Manager - Project Management]
I just always enjoyed math. And I remember being in sixth grade, and I remember them putting us in a room. And we were able to start programming, and it was the ability to actually program. And that excited me. And I always went towards the direction of scientific in nature. So I was encouraged to go to school for engineering.
[TEXT: Gargi, Senior Tech Project Manager]
When I was in high school, there were two things that created so much news. I grew up in India in a very small town. And in '97, IBM's Deep Blue computer actually defeated Garry Kasparov. And then there was also a lot of conversation about Y2K bug. And to me, both those topics were very fascinating. If a computer could actually defeat a world chess champion, for me, the possibilities seemed so unlimited. And I decided I was leaving to pursue computer science and engineering. I did do that and ended up working in technology.
