What I love about working at ADP Pasadena is this is such a diverse atmosphere. It is an open floor plan. We have so much energy in this building. You walk in and you cannot do anything but feel empowered by the vibe in this place. It is so much fun to be here. You'll hear people yelling and designing. And then there's people in there playing ping pong. And then there's the quiet meetings. Like it is just-- the energy that happens here is unmatched by any of the locations I've worked at in ADP.
So working here at ADP, we have a very dynamic workforce. It's very exciting. We deal with statutory work. We deal with legal work. We deal with a lot of the fun tech stuff. So if you're a person who really is great with change and can just do things off the cuff, then you are a perfect fit for us.
If you take things seriously and really care about the client, we would love to have you here at ADP. That's what I look for and that's what we look for-- passion, caring, innovation, agility. You will fit right in. We love diversity of all type. Different ideas to the table make the best product. People who aren't afraid to step up and give your idea. The world is open to innovation.
So why I would choose to work for ADP over a startup here in Southern California is because you get the best of both worlds. We have the fun technology, all of the cool stuff that the startups are offering. We have the stability of being with a company that has been in business for so many years with such a proven track record.

Most people have a misconception about ADP. They think that we're a data processor. They think that we're only on legacy and old technologies. We do have some legacy technologies. We've built some things that have been running for quite some time and they're doing that because they're built so well. But we kind of span the scope of all technologies. We have-- I have everything from legacy mainframes all the way up to the most recent modern platforms being built on pure cloud technologies.
The advantage that I think we have is because of our size of our portfolio, because of the size of the company, you can learn these new technologies. You can learn new businesses. You can go to a smaller business and really dig in and understand the impact of the business and how technology impacts the business. You can get to know the clients personally and understand what their problems are and how you can solve their problems with technology. You can scale up to a very large business in ADP-- that you still get all those same touch points but the sheer, sheer size of it brings with it the capabilities of learning enterprise-level software and technology.
So we kind of span, within our portfolio, startup to enterprise. And that, to me, is super fun to be in because you can kind of learn it all.

[TEXT: Leonard, VP, Global Product & Technology] The story that I like to tell candidates when they come here is specifically around the passion and the purpose-driven culture that we have. I like to tell the story about the clients that we support today, whether it be a gig economy type of company or a big retail industry. Oftentimes I actually take these individuals to actually go see a client to be able to show them the real-life workings of how our product and technology supports them on a day-to-day basis. And very, very often, being able to put technology and how we support the client together really puts pen and paper together in the realities of what we do to help support these companies on a day-to-day basis.

[TEXT: Anjani, Design Engineer] ADP was my first job when I completed my Bachelor's, and so I think that's that special bond that I have. And I always lean towards ADP because I liked the culture. I moved and worked to different companies, as well, but that is what kept pulling me back-- that the culture is great, people are great.
In 2013, June, is when I joined ADP India. I joined as a fresher and the team was good, great. I worked there for two years. I moved to US to do my Master's. And when I was doing my Master's, I did internship at Florham Park, New Jersey, as an intern. And then once I completed my Master's, I worked at another company. But within five months is when I found a very great opportunity here at Pasadena.
The location is great, so I thought, why not? And I just made a move. And I've been here for two years one month, and I'm loving it.

Yeah, I don't think you can be at every company forever, but I absolutely think ADP provides you the ability to be in the company forever because there is such a large portfolio, such a breadth of technologies that we use that you could actually move from product to product in a portfolio, and it'll feel like you're moving to a whole new company, even though you're still within the comfort of being within ADP.
I personally have done that. My first three years at ADP, I started running our small business services division, which is our small business payroll and our retirement services product. And I did that for three years. And then, I moved out here to Pasadena, California, and now I'm running the compliance solution division.
So it was basically as if I moved to a whole new company with a completely different portfolio, all different technologies, but yet again, I'm under that umbrella of comfort of ADP, and I've only scratched the surface of where else I could move. I just gave you the description of the national, but we're also global. So you could move-- I could move into our International space and help to build out our best of businesses in Europe, India, China, Australia. There's huge opportunities.

[TEXT] Aimee, UX Designer
[AIMEE] I am an attorney. I was doing civil litigation for a while. But at some point, I realized it wasn't the field that sort of best suited my strengths and what I like to do and what I'm committed to doing. So then I just kind of looked for a career change and found UX. It was a long time coming. It was like a few years of sort of exploring different fields and ones that I felt like were sort of feasible to shift into. Some seemed harder than others, requiring more investment of education.
Actually, a friend of mine who worked at the UCLA Career Center had alerted me to General Assembly's programs. And because tech is such a hot field that I feel like there's just like a lot of possibilities there, she told me I should-- she recommended that I look into it. And so I went onto their website and I saw all the different sort of roles in the realm of tech. And I saw user experience design and it seemed like something that would be the most aligned with what I've discovered over the years in terms of what might be a good fit.
It just sort of clicked one day when I went to a talk and I heard other user experience designers talking about what they do on the day to day and what sort of strengths they have and it just seemed to align with a lot of what I discovered about myself. And I just decided to throw my head over the fence and just invest in the boot camp course and just kind of go for it and see where it would take me.
After I completed my boot camp program, I was looking for a way to network that worked for me. So I don't really enjoy going to events and just sort of talking to random people. I thought the best way would be to be involved in an organization and that people would get to know me and how I work by actually working with me.
And the way that I found out was Margot, the director at ADP for user experience design, she was actually on the board. And I was, as well, of an organization called User Experience Professionals Association. And she happened to post about an opening under her department and I reached out to her and I told her, you should consider me if you haven't hired anyone yet. And she just kind of put me through the regular recruiting process by starting with the HR person contact.
