Life @ ADP: Exploring Diversity in Tech
Isabel Espina, VP of Product Development, encouraged young people from underrepresented communities to pursue tech careers.
Welcome back to Life@ADP, the podcast that offers career advice and stories from our associates and recruiters around the globe. We are back with a new episode featuring Christine O., the Senior Director of Client Services. She shares her reasons for joining and staying at ADP, driven by a desire to grow and dives into how ADP's iWIN business resource group makes a difference in advancing people's careers.
Coming to ADP
When Christine first researched ADP, she was impressed by the longevity of one's career here, with many associates staying for 10, 12, 15, 20, or even 25 years.
"Before coming to ADP, I worked at a couple of startups in Atlanta. I loved the energy but wanted a more stable environment at that point in my career," Christine said. "I was drawn to the opportunities at ADP and they also encourage associates to move throughout the organization."
As she immersed herself in various initiatives and roles within ADP, Christine discovered a profound sense of fulfillment in empowering others and fostering inclusivity.
iWIN Business Resource Group
ADP's Business Resource Groups (BRGs) help associates connect globally with a network of people who share common interests and experiences. For example, Green BRG focuses on environmental responsibility, Elevate supports the Asian community, Adelante supports the Hispanic community, PRIDE, iWIN (International Women's Inclusion Network), and many more.
Four years ago, Christine joined the iWIN as an Event Coordinator, became the President, and is now a Regional Director. She partners with six local chapters across ADP and focuses on empowering associates in their careers.
"It's been an amazing opportunity to support others," Christine said. "And not just women, but also our male allies and folks of non-binary. We are focused on equality and inclusion, helping associates to build their brands."
Christine is passionate about creating networking events for iWIN members. For example, a national Meeting of the Minds recently took place in San Diego. iWIN members enjoyed the fireside chats and career insights from leaders.
Giving Back
Through iWIN, Christine also helped establish an ADP day with Dress for Success, an organization that supports women starting and building their careers. The career readiness assistance includes resume building, LinkedIn profile reviews, and mock interviews while using donations to provide professional attire for women.
"We also partner with Girls Inc. in a similar fashion," Christine said. "We mentor middle and high school girls by offering coaching sessions. For example, five leaders and I went to their local school and did a Q&A to give career advice."
Looking ahead, Christine is excited about her career's continued growth and evolution at ADP, finding joy in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
